You may ask what the difference is in the method of dyeing of the yarn.  Here are the differences:

Kettle dyed: Yarn is submerged in the dye bath in a large kettle on the top of the stove.

Sprinkle dyed: Yarn is layered on a rack over boiling water in a large kettle and sprinkled with dye crystals, sometimes including several colors, and then allowed to melt into the yarn.

Slow cooker: Yarn is submerged in the dye bath using a large slow cooker.  Takes several hours but there is not as much chance of felting the yarn and the color is much more even.

Space dyeing: Yarn is hung over a clothes line and sprayed with a dye solution allowing the dyes to run down the yarn and creating several colors that will run together.

Painting: Just what it sound like, using a small paint brush to paint on the dye.

We want you to enjoy your purchases a long time. Just a reminder: 100% wool yarn
and articles made with it can't be washed like the acrylics.  It must be hand washed in cold water, no agitation, and dried flat.  We'll be sending these instructions enclosed with your purchase.

Our yarns are created by twisting or bonding fibers from our flock together to make a thread. This twisting process, called spinning, can be dated back to the Upper Paleolithic.

Spinning yarn was one of the first processes to be industrialized.
Spun yarns may contain a single type of fiber, or a blend.

Combining synthetic fibers (which are strong, artificial lustre, and fire retardant properties) with natural fibers (which absorb water well and are comfortable to skin) is very common. The most widely used blends are cotton-polyester and wool-acrylic fiber blends. Blending different natural fibers is common too, especially
with pricey fibers like angora and cashmere.
